Alan Davis, Ph.D., adjunct professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, reported that the magnitude of the effect was about “four times larger than what clinical trials have shown for traditional antidepressants on the market.” Commenting on the study, Dr. Andrew Weil found it encouraging that psilocybin worked so quickly for many participants since most antidepressant medications take weeks or months to work—if they work.
